Banks Power Programmer

A Little Story

Banks has a very interesting history and I will just gloss over it a bit for you here.  It all started when Gale Banks was only a kid.  At 14 years old, he did a complete rebuild on his mother’s 1931 Model A Ford.  By the time he was finished fiddling with it and put it back together, it had an additional 40 horsepower!  He continued with his passion and at only 16 years of age he founded Banks Power.  In the ensuing 50 years, he grew the company into the powerhouse that it is today.

Banks Power makes exhaust systems and programmers for not just cars and trucks.  He also makes engine products for marine vehicles.  To top it off, he is a consultant and provides parts for vehicles owned and operated by the U. S. military!  His civilian car and truck applications are of such amazing quality that he actually has car manufacturers coming to him for ideas and products.

Ok, now that you know a bit about the company and the man behind it, let’s talk about the Banks power programmer.

What is it?

The Banks power programmer is sold as the AutoMind Programmer.  This is the absolute in pre-loaded and pre-programmed power.  Because it comes from Banks, you can believe in it.  Banks is the most trusted name in the engineered engine efficiency game…hands down.

They say that this programmer comes pre-loaded with power.  It has sport, towing and economy settings and is always right for whatever the job is.  It was calibrated to increase not only your power, but also your MPG.  It can display critical engine functions and also provides technician diagnostic capabilities because of its ability to not only scan but also to clear trouble codes.

This programmer can either adjust or remove your engine rev limiter as well as the top speed limiter if you have one.  Your speedometer calibration can be based on either your tire size or your gear ratio.  You can use this to adjust the cooling fan activation temperature.  This programmer allows you to adjust your shift points and/or firmness.  It also includes a fuel economy calibration.  I already mentioned that it can read and clear trouble codes, but that bears repeating.  Also, this is internet updateable so you can always be sure to have the very latest technology.

All in all, this is an unbeatable product that everyone should have in their vehicle.

Banks Power Ram Air Intake System

The Ram Air intake systems made by Banks Power have been tested and proven time and again.  They begin as prototypes made by CAD software and are then put through various flow simulations.  Once they pass those tests, a physical prototype is created and then that prototype must go through various tests on a flow bench.  If it manages to make it past that stage it will then be put on a vehicle and tested.  After those tests are complete, the prototype must also pass tests against stock intakes as well as many intakes made by competitors.

Design and Performance that is Proven

Because of the enclosed cold air housing, the streamlined design, a huge inlet and a giant lifetime filter that is dome shaped, the Ram Air intake system made by Banks Power is able to maximize the amount of cooler, denser air that gets to the engine.  This allows for gains in torque, horsepower and even fuel economy.  These intake systems have a flow that is 35% better than that found in stock systems and they deliver an air density that is greater to the inlet of the turbo.

Exclusive to the Aftermarket

The Ram Air intake systems are exclusively aftermarket products.  They have a 5 inch bellows and can accommodate for the movement of the engine.  This gives more protection to each of the components and as a result extends the life of the system.  In addition, these systems have been designed in such a way that they will not cause any sort of error or fault codes.

Filter Options?

Now Banks Power also offers a choice of filters.  You can choose the traditional oiled filter in red or a dry filter that is black.  In addition, you can get an important additional filtration barrier by adding one of the pre-filters.

Testing?

We talked about testing already but here is something you may not know.  The uncompromisingly high standards that Banks sets for testing have actually been awarded a patent for Engine Performance Evaluation.  This came directly from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Summary

Banks measured its own intake systems along with stock and competitor’s systems and their effect on the density of the air at the inlet for the turbo compressor.  Typically, these temperatures will be higher than they would at ambient conditions.  However, the more cool air that an intake system can get to the filter while preserving the temperature, the more dense the air will be.  All tests have proven that the Banks Ram Air intake systems get the cooler, denser air where it needs to be in order to give you the gains in torque and horsepower that you need.

Banks PowerPack System

When you think of Banks, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?  That’s right!  Power!  Power has been a focus of Gale Banks since 1956 when he was 14.  That was when he did his first engine rebuild and ended up giving it an additional 40 horsepower!  Two years later, he started Banks Power.  He was just 16.

Flash forward to today and Gale is still in control of Banks Power.  Banks Power is one of the most respected names in the industry.  They provide parts to not just car and truck owners, but also boat owners and even the U. S. military.

If you are a driver you know that you need an exhaust system.  If you are an off road enthusiast, you know how extremely important an awesome exhaust system is.  Banks knows this to and has built the Banks PowerPack System for those who appreciate how critical a piece of equipment the exhaust system truly is.

Banks PowerPack System

This is a combination of all of the 4.0L Jeep airflow upgraded products that are made by Banks.  This allows for maximum power regardless of the terrain you are traveling on.  Banks began this project with the Banks Ram Air Intake which is of the free breathing type.  They added the Monster Exhaust which everyone knows is high intake.  Next they added the Torque Tubes exhaust manifold.  This optimizes your torque.  With the PowerPack, the restrictions on intake and exhaust put in place by the factory and their equipment have been eliminated.  Because the engine efficiency is better with the PowerPack, your rear wheels get more power.  Your fuel efficiency will improve and your engine will actually last longer!  Your ensuing exhaust note will be both authoritative and rich.  Included in this system is a stainless steel tail pipe that you can get in your choice of black or chrome.  They also included the Banks AutoMind Programmer which comes pre-loaded with power and has towing, sporting and economy settings as soon as it comes out of the box.  This is an innovation that’s inception was purposed to improve MPG.  This can also display important engine functions while providing diagnostic capabilities and can not only scan but also clear trouble codes.

Research this more at the Banks Power web site and when you find the one for you, you can call the 800 number listed on the web site to purchase it.

Banks Monster Exhaust

When most people think about a vehicle’s exhaust system, it is just about whether their vehicle will pass the emission test to get their sticker so the cops won’t give then a ticket for not having one.  At Banks Power, it is about a lot more than that.

First I’ll relate to you a small story about how Banks Power came into existence.

In 1956 there was a 14 year old boy named Gale Banks who decided to tear down the engine in his mother’s 1931 Ford Model A.  By the time he was finished ‘fixing’ it, it had a total of 40 extra horsepower!  That began a love that has only grown and just 2 years later at only 16, Gale formed Banks Power.

Since then, the company has grown and now encompasses a 12 acre campus where Banks products are designed, tested and manufactured.  They hold patents on quite a few of their products and are even consulted by not just car manufacturers but also the U.S. military!

Ok, now for the Banks Exhaust System.  The Monster Exhaust 3.8L is just one of the many exhaust systems and parts offered by Banks.

Monster Exhaust 3.8L

This exhaust system is for Jeeps 2007 – 2010 models with a 3.8L V6 engine.  The entire exhaust system is made from stainless steel.  This system features a huge 2.5’’ tailpipe and the tip is actually polished to a mirror finish!  If you do not like the polished stainless tip, you can opt for a black tip.  Another feature is the straight-through performance muffler which just happens to be the least restrictive in the industry and as such, it more than doubles the flow of the stock muffler.

If you have been experiencing backpressure from your catalytic converter, this is the exhaust system for you as it virtually eliminates it.

This system comes as a complete kit including the Stainless monster muffler, tailpipe with either stainless steel or black tip; it also comes with all of the hardware that is needed to mount it.

When you get ready to purchase your Banks exhaust system, you can purchase directly from the factory by calling the 800 number on their web site.  Alternatively, you can do a web search for whatever Banks exhaust system you need and purchase it from one of the many e-tailers that are listed as selling Banks exhaust systems.

Banks Exhaust System

Banks Power has been a powerhouse in the automotive industry ever since it began in 1958.  The kicker is that it was started by a 16 year old boy!  His name was Gale Banks and he is still the head of the company today.  When he was just 14, he did a complete rebuild of the engine in his mother’s 1931 Model A Ford and by the time he was finished, he had added a whopping 40 horsepower to it!  Since the company began, Gale has made many new products and holds patents on many of them.  The U. S. military uses him as a consultant on their vehicles and so do many of the major car manufacturers.  Gale himself has actually raced vehicles and holds a few records!

Ok, that is a bit of background for you.  With all of that being said, Banks Power employees will tell you that first and foremost, Banks is an engineering firm.  They strive to engineer, test and market the best automotive products in the world.  Do they succeed?  You be the judge.

Banks Exhaust System

Banks manufactures quite a few exhaust systems and we don’t have the space or time for all of them today, so we will just discuss one of the options and then you can go to the Banks Power web site to examine the other Banks exhaust systems at your leisure.

Torque Tubes Exhaust Manifold

Some of the features of this product in the Banks exhaust system line are the self-aligning exhaust seal that is guaranteed to never blow out or compress.  This also is easily bolted to your stock exhaust.  The flange is welded to each separate tube both inside and outside.  It features super duty manifold flanges that are ½’’ thick and guaranteed to never warp or crack.  They were machined using computer control and precision port matched to cylinder head.  It has unrestricted exhaust ports with tubes that are both shaped and sized to match the cylinder head exhaust port.  There is a precision milled manifold flange which is milled dead flat after welding ensuring that you get both a perfect seal as well as durability.  Lastly, it is made from stainless steel which has the ability to stay exposed to supremely high temperatures which gives you the utmost in durability and it has mandrel bent tubing allowing for maximum air flow.
